Welcome to this FIG 2nd quarter newsletter. The past months have been busy with the FIG Working Week 2025 that took place in Brisbane, Australia. Please read in this newsletter a report from both the Conference and the General Assembly. The conference was a success with positive participant evaluations, excellent atmosphere in Brisbane, and a good financial result. You will find a statement from FIG, too, because unfortunately, and unexpectedly, the national association GCA went into voluntary administration in May 2025. Not even the positive financial result from the conference could help their situation that has been underway for several years. Currently, neither FIG nor FIG Foundation have received our fees from the conference, which we are afraid will be absorbed by the general GCA deficit.
Looking forward we have now opened the abstract submission for the large FIG Congress 2026 in Cape Town South Africa. It is now more than ever important that you will support FIG by attending this special congress that includes election for the new President and Vice Presidents. The local organisers in South Africa are already now well underway with the preparations giving you enough time to prepare your participation.
FIG President attended the World Bank Conference, you will find other upcoming events, awards, FIG Foundation grants, commission updates and more. Even though this newsletter covers a full quarter, we will return to monthly publication of the newsletter. Finally, please say hello to Henni, our new colleague at the FIG Office.

The extended book introduces the reader to the Land
Administration Domain Model (LADM) through examples. It starts by
giving the reader an overview of core LADM concepts then proceeds to
illustrate how data about different people-to-land relationships can
be organized using LADM. Each example represents a scenario that can
be encountered in a Land Administration System. The scenarios used
in examples are derived from the Land Administration System of the
hypothetical town of Watteriver together with its surrounding rural
areas. Each case, representing a particular scenario, is presented
both conceptually and using a simplified representation of a
database in which data are stored concretely. A demonstration
dataset, accompanying GIS project, and reusable slides are available
online - details in the book. |
